The bridge, constructed at a cost of Rs. 1037 million, links Pooneryn and Jaffna creating an alternative route to the A-9 main road thereby significantly reducing the distance by road to Jaffna.
The ceremony was attended by Traditional Industries and Small Enterprises Development Minister Douglas Devananda, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Northern Governor G.A.Chandrasiri and other government officials.
