Career in Journalism-Start with the SLCJ

The Sri Lanka College of Journalism, the country’s premier journalism centre, managed by the Sri Lankan media industry is now accepting applications for the Diploma in Journalism Course for the year 2011.Selected applicants will be assigned to the class of their choice to follow the Diploma Course in Print/Radio and Television streams in all three languages. The course offers multiple career building opportunities, including hands on training at the newsrooms in two internships,   for the trainees to enter the media as professionally trained journalists.

The course includes all the necessary skill training and knowledge to be a journalist on par with international standards. It also meets the industry demands for multi skilled media professionals. The training is conducted at the state of the art Radio and TV studio complex and print media labs of the SLCJ and fully multimedia equipped classrooms. All the trainees will be provided with computer facilities with unlimited internet access throughout the course. Additionally, English will be taught as a supplementary subject throughout the academic year. Lectures and Training will be conducted by full time academic staff. Senior local and international journalists and professional academics will also provide the training for students regularly.

Deadline for the applications for year 2011 is on 30th November 2009.Applicants must be within the age group of 18-25 and must have passed the Advanced Level examination and English language at the GCE Ordinary Level.
