Feb 13, Colombo: Sri Lanka Ministry of Education has decided to make the Vice Chancellors of the universities and the relevant officials answerable for the unemployment problems of the graduates.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education Dr. Sunil Jayantha Navarathna says that amendments to the University Grants Commission Act are being drafted now.
The Ministry expects to table the amendments in the parliament soon.
According to the upcoming amendments, the Vice Chancellors, and the academic staff will have to make the degree courses of the universities more employment oriented.
The Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education further says that 900 some circulars effective in relation to higher education will be reduced for the ease of the university administrators, academics and students.
