71,000 adults commit suicide


 A staggering figure of 71,000 adolescents worldwide commit suicide annually while up to 40 times as many make suicide attempts, the state of the world's children 2011 report of the UNICEF states.
Released on Friday, the UNICEF annual report revealed suicide is one of the three leading causes of mortality among people aged 15-35.
It is estimated that 20 per cent of the world's adolescents have a mental health or a behavioral problem while depression has been identified as the 'single largest contributor to the global burden of disease' for young adults between 15 - 19 years of age
According to the report there is a 1.2 billion population between 10 - 19 years in the world.
