The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT) had sought the information from Facebook to curb the growing number of incidents of Facebook crime.
Information Security Engineer of SLCERT Sri Lanka Rohana Palliyaguru told News Now.lk today that they had received a response from Facebook saying the information on those abusing Facebook from Sri Lanka was now available but the data can be released only on a court order.
Several people had lodged complaints with SLCERT saying they were being abused, threatened and even forced to give money by some elements using Facebook. The social media network has already cancelled some accounts activated from Sri Lanka.
The CID had been asked to investigate the complaints and obtain a court order but Palliyaguru said a court order has not yet been obtained and as a result there is a delay in obtaining the information from Face book.
