Deport foreign sex-workers

It was reported recently that 171 foreigners who were presumably over-staying their visas were deported. It is no secret that some of the foreigners who thus over-stay do engage in nefarious activities harmful to our country and culture, and hence it is nothing but right that they are deported the moment they are discovered.

There are said to be hundreds of foreign sex workers from both eastern and western countries operating in the numerous brothels in the country and also on their own. Two Uzbekistani women have been found at the liberty plaza brothel operated by a well-known "madam". Those from other countries had either escaped or were not present at the time of the raid. This is not the first time foreign women were found in local brothels but they are allowed to operate at will.

Action has been taken to reduce drinking through the ‘matata tita’ programme and smoking through legislation that makes smoking in public places a punishable offence. But the government seems to adopt a lackadaisical attitude when it comes to brothels operating quite openly helping spread the dreaded AIDS.
