The sun was positioned directly over Sri Lanka yesterday and would continue to be so for the next 10 days before exiting Jaffna, the Department of Meteorology said
yesterday. A spokesman from the department said the sun was over an area between Dikwella, Weligama and Midigama in the South yesterday.
The Sun is expected to come directly over an area between Ahungalla, Sooriyawewa and Hiniduma today while it would move westwards towards an area between Panadura and Nawalapitiya on Wednesday.
This is a usual phenomenon that takes place during this time of the year according to the department. The temperature had increased as a result of this phenomenon.
