Tourist visas through Internet

The Government has decided to introduce a simple methodology to provide tourist visas through the Internet parallel to Tourism Year 2011.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa had directed the authorities to introduce this new methodology soon. Foreigners will no longer need to visit the Embassy to obtain visas following this method.
This service will be operative 24 hours. This was revealed during a meeting with President Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday.
External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris, Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhya Rajapaksa were also present.
