Sri Lanka President Mahinda  Rajapaksa congratulated the cricket legend, Muttiah Muralitharan, who  retired from Test Cricket breaking a world record by obtaining 800 Test  wickets, today at the Temple Trees. 
Muralitharan expressed his gratitude to President Rajapaksa for the support provided to him for his success, when he met the President. He presented a token of appreciation to the President at the meeting.
Muralitharan, the World Record holder in wicket taking announced his  retirement from Test cricket in July. He will however be playing for  the 2011 World Cup. 
Muralitharan is the highest wicket-taker in both Test cricket and in One-Day Internationals.
